Scarborough born and raised Fefe Dobson, whose smash self-titled debut album from December/2003 went Platinum in Canada and is approaching half a million in sales world-wide, went from the arts program at Wexford Collegiate to opening for Justin Timberlake during his 2004 European tour.
“It was a amazing. I remember being in Wexford (Collegiate) and not really paying attention to my classes, like in geography or whatnot, and just be writing in my journal … Justin Timberlake’s going to know me one day,” said Dobson, adding that she had wanted to be “a famous singer” as far back as she can remember.

The Toronto Choral Society (which practises out of Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Ave.) will perform A German Requiem (and other selections) at Eastminster United Church on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20. East York Concert Band (which practises out of RH McGregor Public School, 555 Mortimer Ave.) will hold its spring concert in Scarborough at the Blue Danube, 1686 Ellesmere Rd. (one block east of McCowan Road) on Monday, May 14 at 8 p.m. While the concert band participates in many fundraisers and volunteer events, the spring concert is used to help defray the band’s costs. Admission is $12.50.
